KEY  OBJECTIVES

In the year 2002, the Oasis Drop-in Centre has achieved its objectives by providing the following services:

1.     A warm, safe and non judgmental atmosphere where people can meet in a informal and relaxed manner

2.       A social environment where people can participate in recreational activities, make friends, share experiences, receive Information, Advice and Guidance, and/or receive a series of training subjects, e.g.. food safety and hygiene, first aid, drug abuse seminars, talks on mental health issues.  Also now offered since September 2002 are:  IT;  parental skills; English Language;  and home economics.

3.      To assist in building up people’s self esteem and confidence.

4.      To provide Information, Advice and Guidance on where to get further help, e.g. medical help, benefits, housing, budget control, clothing, low cost furniture etc

SERVICES TO THE COMMUNITY

Over the last seven years that the Oasis Drop-In Centre has been operating, the number of attendances has increased considerably thus increasing the work load and the pressure upon the team to meet the various demands put upon them.

We have an open access policy and try to work with each individual whatever their need may be, e.g., drug/alcohol abuse, homelessness, access to welfare benefits, medical help, befriending etc.   If they wish, enquirers are referred on to other agencies to help them find accommodation, treatment, counselling programmes, community health and other services.

OUR ORGANISATION IS THE ONLY ONE PROVIDING THIS TYPE OF OPEN DOOR DAY SERVICE IN THE IPSWICH AREA.
